"Exceeded all of my expectations. My favorite part was the places we stayed. It is evident that ACTIVE NEW ZEALAND has taken great care to find the most interesting and cool places to stay, while taking into account the basics of comfort to ensure a great night's sleep after a long active day! "

"Five out of five!! Patience of a saint. Extremely knowledgeable with an obvious pride in the island she now lives in. A fantastic cook. AND she really did have a lot to contend with - including the weather conditions! "

Active New Zealand Trips, by Activity

New Zealand Adventure Tours

Each of our trips focuses on a wide variety of outdoor adventures to experience New Zealand's most pristine spots and remote wilderness. Whether you're a hiker, a paddler or a cyclist, we'll show you the best New Zealand has to offer.

In addition to our scheduled multi-activity, outdoor adventure trips around New Zealand, we occasionally run custom trips from five to 22 days long. Our custom trips usually concentrate on a special interest. For instance, we sometimes run a custom mountain biking trip, which will cover some of the spectacular mountain biking tracks in New Zealand including a two or three day mountain bike trip into the back country. Or a custom sailing/rafting trip, which includes multi-day rafting and sailing modules. You can join a scheduled trip, a custom trip, or just a portion of any trip. Check out our trip graph below to see which of our trips might suit your interests. Alternatively, us and we'll be happy to point you in the right direction!

Gentler activities available on our New Zealand tours

Whether it’s indoors, wine tasting and spa treatments or outdoors, fishing and sailing, we’ll make sure you make the most of your down time.

Although New Zealand is best known for it more strenuous outdoors pursuits, adrenaline activities and adventure vacations, we can also set you up for other more gentle and relaxing activities on you days off if you’d like. Options such as horse trekking, boat cruises, swimming with the dolphins, wildlife boat tours, or whale watching are available.

NEW ZEALAND FARM TOURS

More uniquely New Zealand activities are also available, such as high country farm tours. We visit remote high country farms on our Kea family trip and our Rimu where you have the chance to meet local New Zealand farmers and learn more about the New Zealand farming way of life in a genuine setting.

If you want to find out more information on any New Zealand activities please feel free to us

WINE TASTING

New Zealand has become well known over the past 10 years as a producer of world-class wines, most noted for its distinctive and classy Sauvignon Blanc’s although other varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling are also among our best.

With wine growing regions spanning the latitudes of 36 to 45 degrees and covering a length of 1000 miles (1,600km) along the country, grapes are grown in a vast range of climates and soil types, producing a diverse array of styles. The northern hemisphere equivalent would run from Bordeaux (between the latitudes of 44 and 46 degrees) down to southern Spain.

As wine growing now covers most regions of New Zealand it provides you with ample opportunities for wine tasting in both the North and South islands of New Zealand. Key regions include Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Marlborough, Canterbury and Otago.
