"What can I say, she was like Mom for two weeks. She was always enthusiastic, did a nice job with the meals, and even sent us off mountain biking with individually tailored snack bags:) Be sure to tell her how much we LOVED the Apple Crumble."

The 25 Greatest Adventure Trips in the World: #9
National Geographic Adventure Magazine - February '03

Here's why people fly so far to hike in New Zealand: A third of the island nation is parkland, and it has just 3.8 million residents. Consequently, hundreds of miles of lightly used trails weave through rugged ranges and untrammeled rain forests. Active New Zealand's 14-day loop is billed as multisport, but most clients opt for tramping around the canyons of Punakaiki, Franz Josef Glacier, the Mount Cook Region, and other South Island beauty spots. Nights are spent in lodges, B&Bs, and a sheep shearer's cabin on a 63,000-acre farm. Read more...

"A truly amazing trip. I went from oooo, to wow, to awe inspired, to stunned silence (usually in the space of one day). I will never forget this trip! "

Adventure Honeymoon in New Zealand

Sitting around on a beach vacation sounds dull? If you enjoy the outdoors, escape the crowds and take an adventure together instead.

Planning a honeymoon, if you haven’t figured out yet, is a bit different than just booking a vacation. The stakes are a bit higher, for a start. And if this is your first big trip together, you might have a bit of negotiation ahead to determine the ideal destination and what constitutes a good time for both bride and groom. For more daring rather than traditional types, an adventure honeymoon could be a chance to do something amazing to bring you even closer together.

But before you start packing for Everest, your honeymoon is probably not the time to launch a full scale expedition. So how about an off-the-beaten-path adventure where someone else takes care of all the logistics and details and all you have to do is show up to enjoy yourselves and each other? Hike and sea kayak in remote wilderness locations and enjoy lots of dramatic panoramic views, for example, without giving up all the creature comforts of a relaxing vacation such as good food and nice accommodations each night.

We get lots of honeymoon couples who choose one of our New Zealand adventure trips over blobbing out poolside at a 5-star beach resort, and over the years we've even planned a few weddings on our trips. We have trips ranging from 5 days to 14 days, and nothing on our trips is mandatory, so there’s lots of flexibility.

Take a look at out our most popular New Zealand adventure honeymoon itineraries.
