Active adventures' partner, Galawiki, had a very well organized itinerary filled with wonderful tours. The local guide, Fabricio, did a great job explaining history, archeology, animals and was very attentive to the group's needs (continuously asking if we're doing OK, if we were comfortable during the active tours). This is definitely one of favorites!

Where to start with a review of an amazing adventure? We arrived and made our way to the start accommodations, The Ngare Sero Mountain lodge. Active Adventures picked a great lodge to start this trip at. Set in a small reserve with a small lake and surrounded by jungle. Lots of birds and monkeys to observe while walking around the many walking trails on the reserve. The rooms and food were excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. Perfect place to prepare yourself for the next phase of this adventure, hiking up Mt. Kilimanjaro. We met with Mel, our Active Adventures guide, and Olariv, our mountain guide, the day before heading to the mountain and received a very informative briefing about what was to come. On to the Mountain! The team, lead by Olariv, that Active Adventures paired with were amazing. Point to a plant, see a bird, hear a sound echoing through the trees, they could tell you about it. The camps they set up and the equipment they provided (tents, sleeping bags, etc.) were top notch. Even at the highest altitudes we slept warm and comfortable. And the food that their chef, Joseph, prepared was delicious. Throughout it all, Mel, made sure everything ran smoothly. All of this made the hike up the mountain a very great experience. It was great to have because the hike itself was tough. Not impossible tough but no stroll through the park either. Olariv and his team took great care to pay attention to everyone on our trip, closely watching health indicators and carefully setting the pace to ensure we all were successful. Standing on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro made every step worth it! Thank you, Active Adventures, for putting together an amazing trip and excellent team to take us to the top of Africa.
Mount Kilimanjaro Trek, January 1970

We joined the Serengeti Safari after completing the Mount Kilimanjaro trek (If you’re thinking of doing both, I highly recommend doing the Kilimanjaro trek first, the Safari makes a nice relaxing victory lap!) and Active Adventures made the connection between the trips flawless. We met up with our guides, Simon and Douglas and headed out to visit a Maasai homestead. The cultural exchange was a very enlightening and enjoyable experience. The next day it was off to the Ngorongoro crater and it was something else! Animals as far as the eye could see in every direction. Everything you could want to see and more. Then it was off to the Serengeti. While there was a lot of driving involved, the vehicles we traveled in were comfortable and great for viewing the animals and surrounding landscape. Douglas and Simon were amazing spotters and full of knowledge of the wildlife that surrounded us (Douglas was especially good at identifying birds!!). The campsites we used throughout were excellent. Delicious food and wonderful vistas at each one. All had spacious tents with attached bathrooms and comfortable beds. Falling to sleep to the sounds of lions and hippos grunting in the distance is a surreal experience. Douglas and Simon worked tirelessly to find the animals everyone wants to see and using their knowledge and clues from other guides we ended our safari sighting the last of the Big 5 on our checklist, a leopard hiding in the tall grass of the Serengeti. What a sight to end the adventure on! This was a great adventure, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to see the wildlife of Africa.

This was my first trip with Austin Adventures but won't be my last. The ability to relax and let the guides take care of all the details was priceless. The hotels were incredible. It was wonderful to have someone in charge of luggage, dinner reservations, park passes, snacks, activities. My job was to be a specific place at a specific time. The fears I had before the trip quickly diminished when I met Alexandra and Steve. They were personable, in charge and excited about our time together. The food was FABULOUS. Alexandra is a great organizer and foodie. Loved her buffalo burritos and restaurant choices. Steven kept things moving and laughable. Steve doing "the floss" on top of the van during Going to the Sun bike ride was a great distraction and wonderful memory. Austin Adventures took the headache out of park passes, getting us into lodges that book 2 years in advance, knowing the best restaurants, being a mobile bandaid applier, sunscreen provider, mosquito repellant administrator as well as support to carry the luggage and encourage us along the trails. Top drawer, Top notch and 5 Stars all the way.

The lack of a breakfast at Baker Creek was the only disappointment resulting in the rating of 8 above. It was three breakfasts that I ate my leftovers from the night before.

We wanted to have our grandsons, aged 17,14 and 10, experience outdoor activities that this trip offered and to be exposed to this incredibly beautiful national park. It was a huge success enjoyed by our grandsons, their parents and my husband and me. Our guides, David, Kathy and Kevin are remarkable people They were beyond accommodating, extremely knowledgeable , fun and very, very hard working. We were surprised that they prepared our delicious lunches While we were relaxing in the evening, they were working behind the scenes. Our accommodations were good, the activities well planned and the guides
