Knowledgeable, experienced and friendly guides led us through the stunning Hydro System of lakes, mountains, and trails which demanded concentration and skills. Brilliant accommodation, food choices and organization made this the trip of a life time!

Thank you for starting up trips to the Galapagos again after the pandemic closures. We had a great trip with awesome guides. They did everything they could to create a memorable trip for everyone. They kept us very busy, and were creative and flexible with the schedule when necessary. Ready to go do it again!

I call this trip an odyssey because it required many hours of training on different surfaces i.e. gravel, river stones, to ensure I had toughened up the 'backside' sufficiently before joining the tour. I reaped the benefits, my 'backside' did not hurt or get chaffed and I managed to cycle all of the 301 km. The scenery is truly spectacular - every day was a new surprise. Our three guides were absolutely awesome. I especially would like to thank them for preparing tasty lunch boxes for Day 2 & 3. If there was an issue with my bike Elder sorted it. A special thank you to Mel who swapped bikes with me on Day 4 when my bike decided to misbehave. I highly recommend you do what I did and join an Active Adventures trip if you would love to knock this trail off your bucket list.

A great experience plus a challenge for me in my 70's although the electric bike helped!

I originally planned to take one of the trips to Patagonia but had to change plans due to COVID closures. The Tortuga was offered as an alternative that could still be done in the spring.I always wanted to go to the Galapagos but was put off by the fact that most trips are boat based and I wasn’t excited about living on a boat for a week or more. Once I found the trip was entirely land based I didn’t hesitate for a second. As on previous trips taken through Active, everything was meticulously organized and there was never a dull moment. I saw beautiful pristine landscapes, an incredible variety of wildlife, preservation and protection facilities, gorgeous beaches, and so much more. This trip, I said yes to everything which meant mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, scuba diving and lots of snorkeling - as well as educational visits to scientific facilities and an incredible inter island flight through mist and rainbows. Although I’ve been vaccinated and most in group had, I still appreciated the detailed safety protocols and also appreciated the concern for the safety and welfare of the local residents. Honestly, if I had been able to imagine this trip before I left, my imagination couldn’t have done this good a job. All the group members were fun people from lots of different backgrounds and we even had a couple of avid birders, which was appropriate for this trip. Our naturalist guide Pablo was a veritable encyclopedia of the geology, flora, fauna, and history of the island. His intense love for this place came through in everything he did and said. His main man Paolo, from Galakiwi, worked tirelessly in the background to make sure everything happened in the right place and time from gettIng our luggage to the airport to making sure we all had dessert at dinner. What a team! I cannot thank you enough for giving me this unexpected opportunity. Sometime the unexpected adventures turn out to be the best!

Not only was the scenery amazing and the trip incredibly well organised... Ellie & Elder made this a really memorable experience. Their humour and personal connection with each of us was incredible. I highly recommend it.
