This Kiwi Trip was my third Active Adventures (hiking) trip. I have been to Patagonia twice with Active Adventures on their Condor Adventure. This trip was extremely scenic, had wonderful hikes that were quite fun, and yet was relaxed enough to really sit back and enjoy the whole thing.
Our guides, Simon and Ruby, made the trip fun and provided lots of info on the NZ culture, history, and geographic sites. Their ability to work together in a happy confident manner allowed us, their guests, to relax and have fun. I will always remember their enthusiasm for all things New Zealand and for life, in general. They were simply terrific! I would go on ANY trip with them as my guides.

The Manuka trip with the Milford Track option fit my needs and desires perfectly! We arrived early in Christchurch so had time to enjoy that beautiful city and rest up from the long flight. Meeting Kaleb and Ruby made the adventure all the more special, as they were so personable, enthusiastic and knowledgable about the entire area. We covered some beautiful trails heading South to the Milford area and these hikes had me well prepared for the Milford hike to the Pass. The places we stayed gave me a feel for the New Zealand life outside the urban areas and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I can not say enough good things about our guides. Kaleb and Ruby E. were excellent. We had a great group of fellow travelers and I am so fortunate to have been able to enjoy the trip of a lifetime. Thanks to all at Active Adventures who helped make this journey possible. I hope to come back for other Great Walks in the future. New Zealand is certainly a paradise!

This was my favorite trip to date and that is saying something, indeed. The land of the long white cloud/Aotearoa is simply stunning - like a jewel box. Kiwis are "sweet as", meaning great. But the Active Adventure staff was the citronella and sweet almond oil (a clever recipe used to ward off the island's only real pest) behind this very well-oiled travel machine. They are the ultimate professionals - filled with encyclopedic knowledge, incredibly personable and patient, and so organized it is practically magical. Plus they have an obvious deep love for this bit of paradise on Earth. We had Ruby E and Kaleb, both of whom I would happily welcome into my home anytime - heck, I'd adopt them if they'd let me. They are imminently well-suited for the work they do and, if they are an indicator of AA's typical hiring practices, somebody there is a sociological/psychological genius. I could not be more impressed with AA or with NZ. Ma te wa, Aotearoa. Kia ora!

I really enjoyed my trip with Active Adventures mainly because of our guides Ruby & Caleb. They were very organized and provided a wealth of information during the trip. But the best part they were engaging to talk with and fun to be around!

I can’t say enough GREAT things about Ellie and Elder! They truly made our trip seamless and unforgettable. They took the best care of us, always looking out for my dietary needs, offering helpful tips, and helping with any large or tiny thing I might need. They have amazing positive attitudes & a sense of adventure which helped our group immensely. We really enjoyed all the activities as well as the insights into New Zealand nature and culture. Brogan joined us for our overnight hut and Lake Crucible adventure. She was really insightful with our questions on Maori traditions and current day status and we appreciated her hiking pace and chocolate. Not sure how Elder and Ellie produced the magical meals they did - so tasty!
