Our first trip to NZ was made all the better by the Active Adventure trip. Our guides- Kim and Ruby were enthusiastic, helpful, funny, knowledgeable, brilliant, experienced, encouraging, sympathetic (to old peoples aches and pains), professional and great cooks. The scenery, trails and landscape of NZ are well known. Being able to experience that with guides who love the outdoors with the kind of reverence they both showed is a special treat. The trips were well organized, a good challenge for the 60 somethings but not 'too much'. The meals were delicious - our favorite was the one Ruby cooked. Thanks to two lovely young women for making the beautiful south island that much more wonderful.

Rimu was such a spectacular and awesome trip. Enjoyed every minute! Especially the variety of activities - hiking, biking and sea kayaking (Marlborough Sounds stands out - truly spectacurlar!)
Koru and Irene were both wonderful guides! Full of knowledge, experts on what they were doing, and going the extra mile for us! The itinerary for the Northbound trip is excellent - each day seemed better than the day before (and the first day already was awesome, but it just became better and better). I was truly amazed how everything worked out so seamlessly and when, even if Mother Nature somehow interfered, a Plan B was produced.
Sea kayaking Marlborough Sounds was one of the highlights and truly spectacular - the guys from Sea Kayak Adventures are awesome!! Wonderful guide (Gareth), couldn't have been better! And Aaron an awesome overall guide. Their enthusiasm and attention to detail was so inspiring! Also, they did sll the work, all we had to do was to enjoy the kayaking (which we all did!)
Another highlight was Braemar Sheep Station - such a beautiful place, it will always be in my heart! It's remoteness made great stargazing possible, especially on my night sleeping outside directly under the sky - many thanks to Koru for making it possible, it made my day (or rather, night) and I will always remember it!
Overall, a truly awesome trip of the South Island!

I did the first half of the Kauri trip and it was a truly wonderful experience. Claire and Holly were the best guides. Claire is an excellent leader, safe and always very competent driver, and gave deep insights about NZ history and culture. Holly is a brilliant cook, always using many herbs, and always going the extra mile to meet everyone's special needs or wishes. And, most importantly, both were huge fun! In addition to being great guides on the trip, they also gave lots of great and spot-on recommendations for the free day or other parts of the country to visit.
The trip itself was full of wonderful experiences and a wonderful combination of activity (especially hiking Cape Brett), spiritual insights into Maori culture (especially visiting the Lord of the Forest) and epic scenery and fun (snorkel day and sandboarding) - in short, perfect! The accommodations were great. I was amazed how well everything was organised and came together seamlessly. In short, six stars out of five!
