We did the Tui classic south island adventure. So much to say!!!! Great trip and the guides are amazing! Just know you will have a bunch of van time since you see all parts of the island. not that bad, and plenty of bathroom stops. just know to expect it. Some Key Points: We picked the heli hike to the glacier and due to the timing of everything the time slot is the first in the morning and unfortunately, it gets canceled a bunch, about 33% of the time. You will get a refund but just know. they do always have a plan B, C, and sometimes D if the weather doesn't work with plans. We signed up for this trip a year out and COVID bumped it, and in the meantime we added our covid 19 LBS and got out of shape. The hikes are tuff and so worth it. just be ready. They send an exercise email, just do it. We opted for the overnight in the backcountry and didn't finish the hike to the lake. So sad, I hear it is awesome. but we did cover some amazing ground. We slept in the tent, which was nice since the hut was packed and we would have to deal with all the people in the same room snoring and all that jazz. It did add some stress to the logistics of packing and making sure you had the right stuff in the right spot when you joined up with the main group, but the guides will help as much as you ask. The bike ride is, is what I would count as a mountain biker learning course. I usually ride my beach cruiser in the campground. that's it. Just keep in mind shifting gears is really important, and it is a workout. Super fun too. There are 2 bridges that are wire held and will start to make a bunch of sways. The first one we all just went over right after each other and the last girl wrecked. The second, we waited for each person to go over, and we could keep our speed up, and was way smoother. FYI, if you want tattoos, I got one in Christchurch, and the wife got one in Queenstown. both are great but christ church is significantly cheaper. I want to say again, the guides rocked. We got the tip cash before the trip started, and I don't feel like I gave the girls enough. They really love their jobs and you can feel it.

Great guides with great relevant knowledge and irrelevant good humour. Knew where to stop for coffee, food, amenities and views, when to tweak the itinerary and how to quickly respond to any issues of the day.

This trip exceeded all of my expectations. Everyone told me that I was going to love Costa Rica, but it’s hard to put into words how much I enjoyed every aspect of it: the people, the wildlife, the food, the accommodations, the activities, and especially, our guide Marcos (Tex to his friends). An adventure of a lifetime. If you’ve ever thought about going (or going again), don’t wait...sign up now & go!

Finding a tour that gives you a challenge and a holiday is very difficult. active adventures New Zealand Walking Adventure achieved this and more. The pretrip organisation and communication was great. Our group although small, only 8 people, was friendly and enthusiastic, creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. The days were full but never exhausting and each activity whether a hike, kayak or cruise was wonderful. The fantastic weather definitely helped.
But it was out guides Emma and Greg who made this such a successful trip. They were always cheerful, professional, fun, personable and flexible to everyone’s needs. We were all treated as individuals rather than a group, whether allowing us to hike at our own pace or pandering to our special diet needs. Even on our free day they had creative suggestions for activities and where to eat.
I’d highly recommend this Active adventures group tour, especially for those who think they don’t like group tours.
